Juxtaposition

What is Juxtaposition?

there is a lot of defentions for it, and these are what i found searching the world wide web:
1- Juxtaposition is an act or instance of placing close together or side by side, especially for comparison or contrast.
2- the state of being close together or side by side.
3- Juxtaposition is the act or placement of two things (usually abstract concepts) near each other.

Juxtaposition in mathematics:
adjacency of factors with the absence of an explicit operator in an expression, especially for multiplications.

Juxtaposition in Medical dictionary:
The state of being placed or situated side by side.

Juxtaposition in word origin and history:
1660s, coined in Fr. 17c. from L. juxta "beside, near" + Fr. position(see position (n.)). Latin juxta is a contraction of *jugista (adv.),superlative of adj. *jugos "closely connected," from stem of jugum"yoke," from jungere "to join" (see jugular).

Juxtaposition in Gammer

Juxtaposition (Granite and steel) by Hideo Furuta

" 'Juxtaposition' is made up of a series of four steel tables and eight hand-carved granite spheres. Fascinated by the relationship between mathematics and Fine Art this work reflects this investigation. The tables and spheres are positioned by applying mathematical theories relating to 'transformation matrices'. The result creates a fascinating experience for the viewer to explore and investigate."

My personal opinion about Juxtaposition:
I think that the Juxtaposition is very important especially in photography, because you get to show two deferent things in one frame, and these two deferent things or objects are the opposite of each other in size, meaning, color, roughness or smoothness, heavy or light and so on.
